Increasing interest in international trade and
development inspired the United States Agency for International Development
(USAID) to commission the publication of this resource guide, which aids
states, local governments, NGOs, businesses, academia, and individuals in
their efforts to obtain Federal assistance for international initiatives.
The Federal government offers a myriad of programs in support of state and
local organizations; however, programs specifically addressing international
opportunities were not readily identified. As a result, USAID compiled the
Federal Resource Guide, which contains information about the Federal
programs available to help state and local organizations advance their
international interests. Although the US General Services Administrations
on-line Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance was the primary resource for
this guide, we have also included appropriate USAID programs, since these
are not included in the General Services Administrations catalog.
Because new and existing Federal assistance programs are constantly being
added and revised, the Federal Resource Guide is not one hundred percent
inclusive. Our hope is that other interested organizations will use this
guide as a template for future publications that will be continually updated
and made available.
If you have any comments or changes for future editions of the Federal
Resource Guide, please send an email to the following address:
