St. Cloud, Minn., May 13, 1999 � NaturTech Composting Systems,
Inc. today was awarded a federal grant of $20,000 to facilitate a
technology transfer of the NaturTech Composting System to Taiwan
Technology Enterprises (TaiTech), a Taiwan based manufacturer. The
technology transfer will allow TaiTech to market and manufacture the
composting system for waste resource management businesses and
organizations in Taiwan. The NaturTech Composting System will improve
the method of waste disposal currently used in Taiwan by reducing the
amount of waste materials being shipped to landfills and incineration
facilities and by decreasing odors. "Now, NaturTech is well positioned
to aggressively go after the lucrative international environmental
market. I owe a debt of appreciation to our dedicated employees, TaiTech,
and to the Minnesota Trade Office for their sponsorship of the grant
program," said Jim McNelly, President of NaturTech.
NaturTech Composting Systems, Inc. contributes over 22 years of
compost operations and organics management experience in its products
and services. NaturTech�s mission is to integrate cost-effective organic
resource technologies into communities� waste resource management
systems to conserve resources, reduce environmental impacts, improve
soil quality, and enhance the quality of life through business
development, consultation, innovation, education, and appropriate
technology utilization.
The Environmental Technology Fund program, administered by the
National Association of State Development Agencies (NASDA) under
sponsorship of the United States-Asia Environmental Partnership
(US-AEP), provides matching funds up to $20,000 to generate business
relationships that foster Asian and American economic development and
help address the environmental challenges facing Asia. The grants assist
small- to medium-sized businesses � less that $50 million annual revenue
� in undertaking projects involving pollution prevention and control,
clean technology and energy efficiency. In five years of operation, the
program has facilitated over 300 projects resulting in over $350 million
in export sales of U.S. environmental products and technologies.
Launched as a presidential initiative in 1992, US-AEP is a
public-private, interagency program, led by the United States Agency for
International Development, designed to promote environmentally sound
economic growth in Asia, with the assistance of U.S. technology,
services and experience. The program works in 11 priority Asian
economies, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia,
Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and � starting this
year � Vietnam.
